Finding their feet

Floppy & Audrey

A difficult start.
A very good lap.

Floppy has a floppy comb, but that isn’t how she got her name. When we rescued her, she couldn’t stand and would flop into a heap.

Floppy and her sister Audrey were part of our rescue flock. Floppy’s name came from those early days, when simply standing was beyond her.

As we got to know her, we came to know a wonderfully relaxed cuddler. These days, she often comes over and parks herself at our feet, waiting to be picked up and settled on a lap.

A friendship with Patchie

Floppy has become best friends with Patchie. Their friendship, and Floppy’s willingness to settle with us, are some of the everyday things we love about this flock.

Her story is part of why we make room for individual care. Every bird arrives with different needs. We give them the attention and veterinary support we can, and get to know the personalities that emerge along the way.

For Floppy, one of those preferences is very clear: if she’s waiting at your feet, there may be a cuddle due.
